Simple Caprese Salad

A huge family favorite in our house is my caprese salad. Not only is it super simple, clean, and versatile; my husband, myself, and kids all equally love it, which is a rarity in our house. The best part? It takes 10 minutes to make! This is a great weekend lunch, and even an easy week day dinner by adding in some pasta or chicken. Oh, and it pairs perfectly with sauvignon blanc, just sayin’  😉


Caprese Salad

Prep: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes


  • 16 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 3 heirloom tomatoes
  • 20 basil leaves
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ¼ balsamic vinegar
  • ⅛ tsp ground pepper
  • ⅛ tsp sea salt


  • 1 loaf of ciabatta
  • ⅓ cup of olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Pinch of sea salt


  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. While the oven is heating up, slice a ciabatta loaf ¾ inch thick slices, halved
  3. Arrange bread on cookie sheet, brush with olive oil, rubbing halved raw garlic on each slice, and topping with a pinch of sea salt
  4. Place bread in oven for 4 minutes
  5. While bread is cooking, slice tomatoes and cheese in ½ inch rounds, arranging on dish in two rows, alternating ingredients
  6. Drizzle olive oil, balsamic, salt, pepper, and basil on top

Serves 4
