Well, it’s been awhile ❤️. Although my silence has been intentional, my return is as well. I feel ready to come back to the surface again. I have so much to tell. During the past few months of profound reflection, I recently fell upon the death of a dear friend. I decided this morning I needed to write again. I wasn’t sure what it was going to be about, but tonight, as the sounds of your laugh and images of your coffin kept haunting my mind, I opened a blank sheet on my computer, and within two minutes I had a poem that felt truer than true. As I have ventured into my 30s, one of the most pivotal changes I have made is to learn to live my life with gratitude. Yesterday could have easily gotten the best of me, I was running late to work, only to park and spill my salad dressing (that I worked hard making the night before) down my new nice white shirt, I then received a call my oldest child came down with the stomach flu, and had a night filled with 🤢 and my youngest child waking up at 5am inconsolable. Yes, yesterday had some challenges, but every time I felt the stress creep in, I took a deep breath and remembered I have 2 beautiful children and a cozy, warm home. There are families right now who lost everything in the California fires and families mourning the loss of their child from the Thousand Oaks shooting. No matter the challenges life brings, always take a step back before you react. It’s okay to feel sadness and stress, but living with gratitude will help you navigate those emotions with intention and positivity. Earlier this year we started making a bucket list for each season. Being a working mama, it’s so, so easy for time to slip away and before you know it, the season is over and you never got around to the fun little things you wanted to do. The bucket list is not only cute and fun for the kids, but it also helps me make time for all those little things. We typically never check every box, but that’s okay, that’s life! We started our Sunday with a quickie impromptu play date with some friends at the park. Perfect way to start the day! We were home bound yesterday doing chores and reorganizing, which the kids were not thrilled about. I always try my best to balance our weekends with a day of productivity and a day of complete fun and relaxation. It helps keep everything balanced.
